History 2008
Losing 6 starters from the 2007 state championship team, including 3 of the 4 defenders, Apex looked to reload heading into 2008. Captains Lisa Cook, Sasha Vedock & Courtney McLaughlin led the offseason work and the Cougars entered the season as the team to beat in NC. Apex started a relatively young team in 2008 including 3 freshman and 2 sophomores.
2008 will be remembered as a dominating season for the Cougars as they went undefeated in NC play with no NC team coming closer than 4 goals to them in margin of victory.

Special wins included a 16-12 victory over East, coming back from an 8-1 deficit. In the state championship game, Apex was never down, leading 8-7 in the first half. Apex closed out the half with a 12-8 lead. The Cougars then went out and scored the first 4 goals in the first 2:30 of the second half opening a 16-8 lead that was never in doubt cruising to a 19-12 victory.
2008 was also the first year Apex fielded a JV team and though the girls were new to the sport, they all learned, and we will see many of these players on our future varsity teams.
2008 Record 18-3
