History 2009
The 2009 team's slogan was to prACTice like a Champion, and the team's goal was to leave the field after each game feeling like there was nothing more that could have been done.
Led by Captains Courtney McLaughlin, Sarah Fellows and Mattie Godfrey, the ladies worked to develop and improve the skills of all teammates throughout the season.
Highlights:
- Courtney McLaughlin was recruited to play for UNC-CH. Courtney was also honored as an All American player by US Lacrosse.
- Sarah Fellows to play for D1 Ohio State.
- Cawley Bromley was Apex's only News and Observer Player of the Year representative.
- The Lady Cougars capped a hard-working season with an unprecedented third consecutive state championship victory!

Apex Lady Cougars simply stepped up the game when facing the formidable Charlotte Catholic Lady Cougars. Every player played her best game, in this nail-biting, down to the last minute, state championship! It was not luck, but rather the result of practice, smarts, determination and teamwork that drove Apex to this victory.
