With 16 returning players Apex set out to make in impact in the state tournament in 2007. Many of the returning players worked hard in the offseason polishing their game in the fall and winter. What showed up in the spring was a talented team that needed to learn how play with a lead and learn how to win a close game. Two early season 1 goal losses to Green Hope & East Chapel Hill led to a more focused team. The team finally hit paydirt with a dominating 9-5 win at home in the rematch with Green Hope handing them their first loss to a NC team in 74 contests. After another 1 goal loss to East Chapel Hill the girls turned things on finishing the regular season 12-3 and receiving the #1 seed in the state tournament. Apex cruised into the semifinals with dominating wins over Hoggard and Chapel Hill. In the semis Apex dispatched North Meck 11-8 despite a 7 goal performance by North Mecklenberg All American Dylan Garner. In the finals Apex faced East Chapel Hill, the only team to beat Apex twice in the season. The score was tied 4-4 early in the second half then Apex turned on the offense and powered up the defense and cruised to a 9-5 win and it's first ever statechampionship. Apex finished with a Laxpower ranking of #1 out of 44 schools in NC. Adding to it's accomplishments the team had 3 players on the All Conference team, 2 players on the 1st team all state, 3 players selected to the National tournament team, 1 player selected to the all star game, 2 players make Academic All American and coach Jessica Trombley (Pineo) receives coach of the year honors.

Apex athletic director Ed Tindal gives the girls varsity status. Returning 16 players to it's roster from 2005 the team worked on improvement, commitment and respectability. The team completed the season with a winning record of 8-5. All 5 losses coming against teams ranked in the top 6 in the state. Apex finished with a Laxpower ranking of #9 out of 36 schools. A well played 1 goal loss to Gibbons to end the season announced the arrival of the program to all teams in the state. A 10 goal loss to state champ Green Hope was a low point while senior Katie Broddle earned the programs first all conference award in goal.

Rob Bromley started the Apex program as a club team sponsored by Apex Sports Authority. Coached by Jessica Trombley and assisted by Rob Bromley and Jay Faulhaber the team practiced 3 nights a week at Cary Elementary and played it's home games on the HS practice field that the team needed to pay for it's use. Parents sold baked goods at games to pay for the officials fees. The team was a resounding success completing a 2 win 6 loss varsity schedule giving them a Laxpower ranking of #20 out of 33 teams in the state. The high point of the season was winning it's first ever game against Riverside 6-3 at home and playing one game on the stadium field. The low point was a 21-2 thrashing at the hands of eventual state champ Green Hope. The team started the season with 25 players and finished the season with 26 adding it's only senior mid season. This was a true club team as practices only had 14-16 players show up any given day.
